In lieu of classes during the three weeks between Thanksgiving and the Winter Break, all Forman students and faculty participate in The Forman School’s Winterim, a rewarding 20-day exploration of subjects and ideas not usually taught in a traditional classroom setting. Together they pursue new endeavors and work closely with others with whom they might not normally engage. As students with different learning styles tend to excel as innovators, entrepreneurs, creators and experiential leaders, Winterim is designed to give them practice in applying those skills that are fundamental to their talents. Winterim is a timely and rewarding break from their college prep studies. It is designed to work with the interests and natural talents that individual students have at their core.

Notes from the Academic Office

Parents should take an early and active role in helping their student select Winterim projects which would be most stimulating and beneficial and closely aligned with their interests.

Students sign up for their Winterim selection during the spring course sign-up process with the Director of Studies. New students sign up for projects during the summer and can contact the Director of Studies, Jamie Dwan via email with any of their questions or concerns. Since it may not be possible for each student to get his or her first choice, it is important that students consider their second and third choices. Students may not enroll in the same Winterim twice during their time at The Forman School.
