Community Life

The classroom is only one part of the Forman experience. Community Life involves the non-academic parts of the Forman program including dorm life, cultural events, social activities and a community curriculum that teaches various life skills. The Forman program places great emphasis on the opportunities for growth outside the classroom and off the athletic fields. These are also the times when meaningful personal relationships can develop. The goal of the Community Life Program is to provide experiences that contribute to the five core values of the school: character, commitment, community, involvement and excellence.

Dorm Life
Dorm life is a vital and exciting part of the Forman experience. Forman has twelve dorms which house from seven to twenty students. Small dorms promote a close-knit family atmosphere where each student gets to know his dorm mates and dorm parents very well. Some activities are built around dorm teamwork and cooperation.

Friday Night Program
On Friday nights study hall is shortened and time is set aside for community life activities. Sometimes, dorms get together for in-house events or there may be guest speakers, games or contest involving the entire Forman community.

Advisor System
All Forman students have an advisor. Students meet weekly with their advisor who serves as the link among the student, his or her teachers and the parents. Advisors help ensure that there is strong communication among all parties and can provide students with help and advice in dealing with an issue. Students are assigned an advisor upon enrollment and generally keep the same advisor for the duration of their time at the school.
