The following is a statement from Forman's incoming Head of School, Adam Man.
It is a tremendous honor to be appointed as the next Head of Forman School.
Forman has a strong reputation within the academic community and is a school that leads the way in educational programs for students with learning differences. I have been most impressed with Forman’s goal of finding the promise and developing the potential of every student. This unique quality is apparent from the moment you step on campus and talk to the students, faculty and staff. Every individual is highly engaged within the learning community and working to achieve the very best.
Forman is a school that appeals to both my head and my heart. Intellectually, my career has been centered on developing educational programs that embrace a diversity of learners. This work began with my graduate degree focus in learning disabilities and has been present in every school I have worked at since. But it is in my heart that Forman resonates for me as a father of a dyslexic son. I have known the experience of struggling with a school that seems to overlook my son’s curiosity and intellectual gifts because he has trouble with spelling. Thus, I can think of no other school that I would rather be a part of or seems to better embody what is important to me as an educator and parent.
I want to thank the Board of Trustees for their faith in me and especially to thank Mark Perkins for all the support he has graciously extended during the early stages of the transition. Under Mark’s guidance, Forman has truly become a leader in meeting the needs of students who learn differently. In the months ahead, I look forward to getting to know many more of you in the Forman community.
