Several Forman School students have made headlines in regards to their recent achievements in athletics. Junior Ry Sanderson received special recognition for his first-place finish in the New England Cross-Country Championships. He was recently highlighted in The Litchfield Enquirer as Athlete of the Week. Ry’s teammate, junior Jen Stein, was also selected as Athlete of the Week in The Litchfield Enquirer for placing fifth in the New England Cross-Country Championships and being the first female at Forman School to compete in the race. Stein also won the Hudson Valley Athletic League Championship and finished first in every regular-season race.
Other notable performances include senior Mike Jaimes on the Boys Varsity Soccer team. Jaimes broke The Forman School career scoring record with a total of 66 goals in the last two years. The previous record was held by Doug Rosenblum ’93, who had 63 goals in three years.
Jaimes also participated in the Connecticut Soccer Assocation’s Senior Soccer Bowl, which encompasses both private and public schools in Connecticut. Jaimes, with teammate Charly Manosalves represented Forman on the North Team. Forman School Athletic Director Scott McCarty says that it is “quite an honor for them to be nominated to play in this game.”
On the Girls Varsity Soccer team, seniors Shayna Haust and Olivia Hanson participated in the Women’s Western New England Prep School Soccer Association All-Star Game at Westminster on Nov. 13. Both girls “represented the school well and played throughout the entire match,” McCarty said.
