Forman School to the rescue! The Animal Rescue Club at the School gathered a sizable donation to For the Love of Labs Rescue, and the organization is showing great appreciation for the gesture! "A HUGE thank you to the Animal Rescue Club at Forman School in Litchfield, CT for their donation of leashes, collars, toys and treats for our rescue pups! We look forward to working with the Club in the future," the group wrote on their Facebook page.

Forman School honored 11 employees, all of whom will reach 25 years of service or more to the School in 2017. Head of School Adam K. Man and with his wife, Beth, hosted a celebratory dinner at their home on Friday, April 7, 2017. Members of the Board of Trustees were in attendance to honor the dedicated faculty and staff members.

With a long tradition of sending graduates to play collegiate athletics, Forman School is proud to announce that three students have committed to Mitchell College starting in fall 2017. On Wednesday, April 6, an official signing day ceremony took place on campus for Quinn Outerbridge '17 (soccer), Dylan Thambirasa '17 (soccer), and Jesse Newberry Sacks '17 (Lacrosse).

The decision of where to attend high school is an important one. And for the students who were accepted at Forman School for the 2017-'18 year, Revisit Day was the perfect opportunity to envision themselves as members of the community. Through gray skies and light drizzle all day, it felt like the sun was shining for the new Lions, who were beaming with excitement about their new school.

Mazwe Cuba '18 moves to his own beat. Literally. Settled in a modern lime green chair at Forman School's new, state-of-the-art Ingenuity Lab, the junior from South Africa begins explaining his project with a vocal exercise.

After playing in the Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) Championship, Forman School basketball stars JT Papa '17 and Luke Willson '17 were named to the All-HVAL First Team. The two student-athletes, who have been vital to the Boys' Varsity Basketball team's success, were also recognized in the region. The New England Prep School Men's Basketball Association (NEPSMBA) recently named their 2016-'17 New England Boys' Class D All-Stars, with Papa being selected for the First Team and Willson making Honorable Mention.

Taylor McNair '17 has had a dynamite postgraduate year at Forman School, and it's not over yet. The Girls' Varsity Basketball Captain has led her team to the league championship, she was named a First Team All-Star in the Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) and the New England Prep School Women's Basketball Association, her grades have improved dramatically, and her college prospects are very promising.

Laura Baldini '92 vividly remembers the "Outward Bound style" canoeing trip in Canada she took with Wendy Welshans and a small group of students during one spring break. A self-described "city girl," Laura credits that trip with bringing out her adventurous side and taught her that she could do anything: "That trip taught me about taking risks."

Creativity runs deep in Forman's Ingenuity Program, from the unique student projects all the way to the program logo itself. Forman has won the Gold at the 32nd Educational Advertising Awards for the School's new Ingenuity Program Logo design.

Once a Lion, always a Lion. That's a phrase we say a lot here at Forman School, and it's just as true on campus as it is across the globe. As chance would have it, a group of Forman students headed to Rome and Pompeii for an "Ancient Wonders" educational Winterim trip. And it turned out that among the relics of Italy, it was the modern wonder of social media that brought one of the most meaningful experiences to the adventure.

Fresh off a Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) championship win, three athletes on Forman School's Girls Varsity Basketball team were named All-Stars for the 2016-'17 winter season. Congratulations to Taylor McNair '17 and Dani Oddo '18, who were selected as First Team HVAL and New England All-Stars, and Courtney Schullery '18, who was chosen as a Second Team HVAL All-Star.

Forman Robotics has seen great success recently, but our current students aren't the only members of the community with an affinity for this 21st century pursuit. Max Bales '14 says building robots is something he "dabbles in from time to time." What he considers to be a hobby, however, others like ABC, call a gift. When the television network revived the early-2000s Comedy Central show, Battlebots, Max and a group of like-minded friends and family members were some of the first to be invited to participate as a team.

In only its second year, Forman Robotics has been named runner-up in a major competition. Matthew Madsen '17 and Captain Christopher Mann '17 of Advanced Robotics Team 1930B came in second out of 40 teams in the Starstruck VEX Robotics game in the CTEEA University of New Haven Robotics Competition.

Sean Padgett of Forman School has been named the Assistant Wrestling Coach of the Year in all of New England. He was honored at Hyde School in Bath, ME on Friday, February 17 by the New England Independent School Wrestling Association (NEISWA).

The Winter 2016-'17 Athletic Awards took place on Monday, February 20 in Peirce Dining Hall at Forman School. Athletes and coaches enjoyed a banquet with delicious food and coaches then honored our outstanding athletes. Athletic Director Scott McCarty '76 said, "Thank you all for a wonderful night. I appreciate the time and commitment by both our students and our faculty. Good luck to all our teams in the coming week. Go Lions!"

David Buckley '13 is currently in his last semester at Fairfield University. Zach Bitan '13 is in his fourth year of a five-year master's program at Trinity College. To say they have been working hard is an understatement.

Evan Schmid '08 and Kimberlie Gold '08 met at Forman during a PSAT exam their sophomore year. As fate would have it, Kim and Evan were seated next to each other and during an exam break, Evan took the reigns and asked Kim if she wanted to take the trip with him to go feed his mouse. Kim says, "I swear we laughed the whole time," and they haven't stopped laughing since.

Joseph Burdis '07 has had a varied career working in the film industry, in sales at his father's woodworking machinery company, and at a paintball field in his hometown of Poughkeepsie, NY. While he still works at Taylor Manufacturing, it was paintball that led Burdis to finally hit his target.

John Reinicke was a four-year, three-sport athlete at Forman, participating in soccer, skiing, and baseball. According to Athletic Director Scott McCarty '76, John was the best goalkeeper that Forman has ever seen and was a college prospect for soccer. Unfortunately, John was injured while skiing during his senior year at Forman and while treating his injury, cancer was found and his arm had to be removed.

Forman School participated in the annual Penguin Plunge on Sunday, January 29, 2017. As part of our Community Service Program, students braved the icy waters of the Farmington River to raise money for Special Olympics Connecticut.

The annual Forman School Alumni Hockey Game was held Saturday, January 28 at Rumsey Hall School's Lufkin Arena. Current and alumni parents cheered the teams on alongside faculty members.

Joshua "JT" Papa '17 has had an excellent career as a student-athlete at Forman School, and his final season on the Varsity Basketball team just got sweeter. On Wednesday, January 25, 2017, Papa reached his 1,000th point in a home game against Christian Heritage School. In fact, he's up to 1,002.

Forman School is proud to announce the first ever members of our Athletic Hall of Fame, to be inducted during an official ceremony at Alumni Weekend, May 5-7, 2017. "We have an extraordinary group of athletes, coaches, and team members to represent our first ever Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony," Director of Alumni Programs Danielle Plante says. "We are excited about celebrating this new tradition and hope you will join us in May!"

In just six weeks, the high school senior has taken an idea – Not Straight Against Hate – and turned it into a following with thousands of members who will march in a peaceful protest in New York City this weekend.

Prevention Specialist Glenn Hall of Freedom from Chemical Dependency (FCD) visited campus this week from Monday through Thursday. He held sessions with each grade level about making intelligent, healthy choices regarding alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use.
