Forman School is proud to announce our posthumous selection for the inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame.
John Reinecke '86 was a four-year, three-sport athlete at Forman, participating in soccer, skiing, and baseball. According to Athletic Director Scott McCarty ’76, John was the best goalkeeper that Forman has ever seen and was a college prospect for soccer.
Unfortunately, John was injured while skiing during his senior year at Forman and while treating his injury, cancer was found and his arm had to be amputated. Being the tenacious young man that he was, he returned to Forman in the spring and resumed his athletic career, playing baseball with only one arm.
After graduation, John returned to Forman for two summers to help run soccer camps and then the snack bar, now named John's Place. John would often get in goal despite his disability, motivating all those in his presence. John passed away not long after, but his memory is strong and lives on in the Forman community.
The Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place during Alumni Weekend, May 5-7, 2017.
