With a long tradition of sending graduates to play collegiate athletics, Forman School is proud to announce that three students have committed to Mitchell College starting in fall 2017. On Wednesday, April 6, an official signing day ceremony took place on campus for Quinn Outerbridge ’17 (soccer), Dylan Thambirasa ’17 (soccer), and Jesse Newberry Sacks ’17 (Lacrosse).
Congratulations to our three outstanding athletes! Check out what they and their coaches had to say on signing day.
Dylan Thambirasa ’17 & Quinn Outerbridge ’17
Dylan: “It's an amazing feeling. It's been a crazy four-year ride at Forman – I never thought I would make it this far. I want to thank Mackey [Athletic Director Scott McCarty ’76] and my family; I would not be here without them.”
Quinn: “I feel amazing. I never thought this day would come. I'm excited to contribute to the team. I want to thank my family and Mackey and...just Forman.”
Dylan: “Especially Forman.”
Forman Athletic Director/Head Soccer Coach Scotty McCarty ’76: “I'm very excited for these two boys. They have made such a big difference in the last four years for our team. I truly appreciate that they now have the opportunity to first be academically supported and also play under a great coach. They are getting two great players.”
McCarty has sent other Forman alumni to Mitchell in recent years for soccer like Graham Cavanaugh '12, Katie McBride '12, and Spencer Daniel '11. “They’ve had great success,” he says.
Jesse Newberry Sacks ’17
Jesse: “I want to thank my parents, the Lacrosse staff at Forman, and my cousin DJ for getting me into Lacrosse. I've been playing since 4th grade; I remember being in the yard practicing. I’m just excited about being a part of the team.”
Forman Head Lacrosse Coach Mike Kowalchick: “Jesse is a strong close defenseman with the ability to shift the tone of the game. He is a great success story of a player who came to Forman, worked hard, and is going off to play Lacrosse in college. We wish him all the best next year at Mitchell.”
We wish Quinn, Dylan, and Jesse much luck next year and know they are ready to take their academics and skills on the field to the next level. Maybe we will even see them in the Athletic Hall of Fame someday!
