In the spring of 2010, with athletic seasons completed, athletic director Scott McCarty, associate athletic director Craig Lombardi, and some seniors found themselves with an open afternoon.
But not for long!
Senior prefects Allie Halstead '10 and Lawton Jeffords '10 pitched an idea on how to spend that time to Mr. McCarty, Mr. Lombardi, and Ms. Grella and the five of them worked together to make it happen.
That industrious group came up with an idea to split the population of the School into teams, Green and White. They then set up an array of games and competitions for the two teams to see who could accumulate the most points. First time around, the White team won.
All the participants had so much fun that the following year the Green and White idea turned into Forman's year long color war competition. All new students are assigned a color and they are associated with that team for life. Siblings are always assigned to the same team. Each year there are three or four different types of competitions and a winner is announced in the spring.
During opening week this year, new students, and faculty joined their respective teams and two short competitions took place. The White team has taken the early lead.
One bit of hope for the Green team. White won last year and no team has ever won two years in a row.
