New Forman School history teacher, Erika Prince, feels right at home in the classroom. Because she's imagined herself there since she was in elementary school in her hometown of Plymouth, Ma. "I've have always liked school. I really enjoy the atmosphere around sharing information and explaining concepts, ideas, and facts."
Prince graduated from Wheaton College with a double major in history and secondary education. But she hasn't been sitting around relaxing. She spent a year as a teaching fellow at Phillips Academy in Andover, Ma and she traveled to Ankara in Turkey to work with government workers on improving their English.
A dorm parent in Beecher, you will know Prince's room because you'll hear her playing some Regina Spektor, Mika, or Ingrid Michaelson. In her spare time, Prince enjoys painting with acrylics, Pilates, and going for walks and hikes.
Prince also coaches Forman's varsity cross country team with Mr. Joseph Odell.
So far, Prince has enjoyed her time at Forman. "I like being a teacher, dorm parent, and coach," she says. Those three jobs combined give me a great chance to get to know students more fully. I see them at home, in the classroom, and in their time as athletes."
