The Forman football team scored a big win over rival The Gunnery on Saturday, October 28 under the lights in Washington Depot, CT. The Lions prevailed in the second overtime by a score of 60-54. The victory was Forman's first over The Gunnery in four games since the schools went to eight-man football in 2016.
The key to Forman's victory was showing poise under the pressure of facing a quick 20-point deficit as The Gunnery quickly opened up a lead of 26-6. But the steady play of senior captain running back Tom Troy '18, who accounted for three touchdowns, propelled the Lions in their second half comeback. Other touchdowns were scored by Matt Troy '18, Chris Schell '18, and Litchfield High School student Ryan Rinaldi, who had three including a fumble recovery he turned into six points. (Rinaldi plays football for Forman under a special allowance because Litchfield High does not have a football program.)
By the end of regulation, the score was knotted at 46.
After each team scored in the first overtime, The Gunnery failed to score to open the second overtime. Forman drove down the field and settled at The Gunnery's 20-yard line. The winning play was a fake off tackle to the left, then QB Kyle Gorman '18 tossed the football to Tom Troy '18 who hit Rinaldi for the winning score.
