On the evening of Thursday, November 9, Alice in Wonderland became the answer to this trivia question: What was the first Forman School theatrical production held in the Jake Cloobeck '16 Theater in the Visual and Performing Arts Center?
Director Lily Chen greeted the audience and did not let this inaugural moment go unnoticed. Ms. Chen and all who worked on the show dedicated the performance to head of school Adam K. Man because it is his leadership, vision, and belief in the importance of the arts in education that led to the construction of the Arts Center. Ms. Chen also told those in attendance that a poster-sized card had been created for Mr. Man to celebrate his tenth year at Forman and all were welcome to sign it after the show.
Led by Alex Becker '18 as Alice, the cast and crew delivered a lively and funny evening of entertainment. Taking full advantage of the technical offerings of the Arts Center, Alice's tumble down the rabbit hole was rendered on video using green screen technology and the audience cheered when she landed.
The cast and crew all did wonderful work. Some standout performers were Rene Burkert '19 as Caterpillar, Levon DeGennaro '19 as Duchess, Molly Reinhardt '20 as the Queen of Hearts, and Mae Sharpless '18 and Emily Chandler '18 as, respectively, Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
The second Forman theatrical production at the Jake Cloobeck '16 Theater will be the 2018 Winter Musical, Shrek.
