A Fall Parents' Weekend to Remember

Fall Parents’ Weekend at Forman School came to a close Saturday, October 24th after days of fun activities, parent-teacher meetings, and inspirational education sessions. Campus was buzzing with excitement and happy faces, and the fall foliage set a colorful backdrop to the events.
Beginning Thursday, internationally recognized LD expert Rick Lavoie entertained and educated new Forman parents in a special seminar. Throughout the weekend, parents enjoyed meaningful parent education sessions including Finding a Healthy Balance for Parent Involvement in a Student’s Life with Director of Student Life Terry Walsh, College Counseling for Parents separated by class with Director of College Counseling Meredith Davis, and What, Me, Worry? The Anxiety of Raising a Child with Learning Differences with School Psychologist Dr. Barbara Tarkin.
Friday night was filled with opportunities for families to connect with each other and also savor delectable foods. Parents of underclassmen came together for a social gathering in the Science Center and parents of seniors and postgraduates attended a reception at the Head’s House. Most exhilarating of all was the Second Annual Forman Fall Festival, with games, delicious food stations, and student musical performances of songs such as “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers, “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson, and “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” by Jet. The award-winning B-EXTREME Dancers wowed the crowd in the dining hall with a fun, high-energy, acrobatic performance. Company owner and Forman School alumnus AJ Rosa ’03 led the group. Following the festival, throngs of people headed down to a bonfire and pep rally, a Forman tradition brought back by student request.
Finally, an All Parent Meeting with Head of School Adam Man was held Saturday, as well as Parent Association meetings by class. Several athletic games were held on campus and our guests cheered on the Lions proudly! We hope everyone enjoys a restful time at home before returning to school Wednesday, October 28th.
