Fall Parents Weekend
Posted 10/26/2018 01:03PM

Parents' Weekend is always a busy yet reflective time on campus. From teacher conferences to athletic contests, it was a full and memorable time to understand and appreciate Forman as a whole, from all staff and faculty to the students and their families.

After a day of conferences and campus tours, parents were invited to receptions on Friday night broken out by class. After that socializing, the Forman Fall Festival took center stage. In both Peirce Dining Hall and the Lion's Den Bistro in the Student Center, delicious food and beverages were the stars of the night. The Bistro offered short rib ravioli, 898 Squash ravioli, Arethusa Europa ravioli, duck leg wontons, roast beef crostini, various kinds of cheese toast, sorbets of Concord grape, strawberry, peach, and white raspberry, and maple cinnamon ice cream. In the dining hall, friends, family, and students munched on smoked and apple cider braised pork belly, smoked chicken wings, Philly cheese steaks, pierogis, cannoli, a seasoned french fry bar, a popcorn bar, and funnel cakes.

Entertainment for the evening was lively and fun renditions of pop music from the 1980s in a welcoming nod to parents. Under the general and genial guidance of music teacher Jerrod Cattey, performers included students Bo Concannon '21, Russell George '21, Milo Corrigan '19, Betsy Hulse '20, Reid Korde '21, Olivia Minor '20 (who never left the stage!), JJ Steneck '21, Val Bauer '21, Ahlon Harkness '19, Emme Woolley '20, Baird Atwood '19, Henry Lautch '19, Meredith Sherburne '19, and Clayton Tichy '19.

Finally, at the last big gathering of the weekend, Head of School Adam Man reviewed the important messages behind the school's core values of truth, kindness, and respect at the All Parent Meeting in the Jake Cloobeck '16 Theater on Saturday. A particular point of emphasis was to remember that respect includes self-respect and to make decisions that reflect your true self and the person you want to be, an important message for all students to consider.

The weekend concluded down at the athletic fields for soccer, football, and CEO Robert Scodari's annual stint behind the grill, wearing a suit of course, one of many Forman traditions that gets better every year.
