Athletics is a key part of any teenager's development. It builds a sense of individual accomplishment, dedication, and teaches one how to be on a team. Forman School Athletic Director Scotty McCarty '76 embodies these traits and has dedicated his life to teaching and supporting them. Each sports season ends with a banquet and awards ceremony that allows McCarty to recognize players and coaches and everyone else involved with athletics at Forman.
On Monday, November 12, Forman held its Fall Sports Banquet which featured a Thanksgiving meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, salads, and assorted cookies for dessert. McCarty began his remarks by having the dining hall staff come out and take a bow. Then senior soccer player Danny Vasile offered comments about keeping sports and life in perspective. And he kindly reminded all that the evening was intended to be device-free.
After dinner, each of Forman's ten fall sports teams and their coaches came to the podium and told of their seasons and handed out individual awards. At the mid-point, The Dance Team changed things up with a short dance program.
In his closing remarks, McCarty noted how appreciative he was of his colleagues in Athletics, Head Trainer Craig Lombardi and Assistant Coleen O'Connor.
Winter sports began in earnest over the following days, with tryouts starting for everything from basketball to the winter theatrical production.
