Forman winter athletes are being recognized for their outstanding performances this year. First, NEPSAC (New England Preparatory School Athletic Council) named sophomore Dani Oddo ’18 to the All New England girls’ basketball All-Star Team, and now, Jonathan “JT” Papa ’17 and Luke Willson ’17 are receiving the same honor for the boys’ league.
Both Papa and Willson were named Forman Athletes of the Week during the Boys’ Varsity Basketball season. Papa was selected for the All HVAL (Housatonic Valley Athletic League) First Team, as well as First Team All New England. He ended an impressive season with 25.4 points, four steals, and five rebounds per game. Willson was named to the All HVAL Second Team with an average of 12 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks per game. The Boys’ Varsity Basketball team qualified for the league tournament, but fell to Harvey School 52-44 after a hard-fought Quarterfinal game.
Papa has “great energy and enthusiasm,” Head Coach John Strawson said. “He was a leader on and off the floor, trying to motivate those who needed that extra push.” Of Willson, Coach Strawson said, “Luke was a key player for us this season. He improved his footwork significantly and led the Boys’ Varsity team to a 3-0 record over a span of three games, including a huge win against South Kent.”
