The Class of 1986
Approximately 100 guests graced Forman School’s campus on May 6-8 for Alumni Weekend! Several alumni arrived early on Friday and enjoyed watching the student Dissertation Day presentations for the Rainforest Project. In the evening, attendees gathered for a reception at the Head’s House, followed by the “Golden Lions” 50th Reunion and Decade Dinner, which was hosted by Bart Curtis ’66 at La Cupola in Litchfield.
On Saturday, alumni participated in a panel question and answer session led by Head of School Adam K. Man, Assistant Head of School for Internal Affairs Mike Kowalchick, Ingenuity Director Chris Ford, Director of Counseling Charlene Halloran, School Psychologist Dr. Kelli Miller, Athletic Director Scott McCarty '76, Institute Teacher and Director of Town Funding Nigel Daniel, and Institute Teacher Diane Lucarelli. Attendees were excited to hear about Forman’s growing involvement in the Litchfield community as well as the School’s continually improving facilities. Additionally, they loved learning about the Ingenuity Program and the idea that students can take their ideas and run with them. Many of our alumni commented, “I wish I could come back and go to school here now!” A Class Agent Meeting was also held with the purpose of working to connect our alumni more.
Classroom visits included Ingenuity, the arts, and Dystopian Literature. After a barbecue lunch, student ambassadors led several groups in campus tours and then over 20 alumni braved the cool, rainy weather for the Alumni/Faculty vs. Student Lacrosse game. With alumni and faculty suited up in white and students sporting Forman green, it was an exciting competition. Ultimately, the alumni were victorious with an 11-4 win!
Saturday receptions included one for the Class of 2006 hosted by Julie & Craig Lombardi and a cocktail hour and dinner for all at The Litchfield Inn. The all-class reception included appetizers, a spirited silent and live auction, dinner, and dessert. The Golden Lions were also each honored to great applause and given a gift.
The weekend closed with a meaningful Memorial Gathering to honor alumni, former faculty, and special friends of the School who passed away within the year. Director of Alumni Programs Danielle Plante read the names and then alumni in attendance made personal reflections about those they had lost. Students performed “Imagine” by John Lennon and “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Senior Alumni Officer Duncan Marshall ’67 spoke of his time in John and Julie Forman’s Bible class, and read a passage from John Forman’s Bible.
With another successful Alumni Weekend in the books, we would like to thank everyone for making this year special. A great time was had by all and we look forward to seeing you next year!
