This spring marks the groundbreaking of an Ingenuity Lab at Forman School. Construction is underway and concrete is being poured for the base of this 3,600 square foot structure, which will act as an addition to the existing Olson Outdoor Education Center.
The Ingenuity Lab will be home to Forman’s Ingenuity and Robotics programs and will also enhance opportunities for the award-winning Boat Building Program in Olson. The Ingenuity Lab will have a full fabrication suite and the latest in computer hardware and software for animation and design. In addition to the suite, this state-of-the-art facility will include a collaborative group teaching classroom, metal shop, conference room, and robotics area. Students will have access to high tech machinery such as a plasma cutter, welder, soldering station, 3D printer, CNC router, milling machine, and new computers.
This project is slated for completion this fall and will be ready for students to explore projects in coding, robotics, the arts, computer programming, mathematics, web design, and much more. This addition will provide the creative space needed for Forman’s increasing hands-on, learner-centered curriculum.
It’s an exciting time for Forman, with a groundbreaking ceremony for a Visual and Performing Arts Center coming up on May 27.
