This year marks the beginning of the Big Brother/Big Sister Program at Forman.
“This program developed out of a conversation with the prefects from last year as I learned about some of our stronger student role models, and the effect they had on freshmen at the time,” Leader Kyle Halloran ’05 says. “This program will serve as a mentorship opportunity.”
On Thursday, September 22, each prefect met with his or her “little brother” or “little sister.” The prefects decided that they would like to have regular lunches with their younger “siblings,” meet formally every few weeks to check in, and hold occasional events catered toward the interests of the freshmen.
“The goal of this program is to help the freshmen build confidence, witness proper student leadership on campus, have something to work towards over the next couple of years, and get them more involved in our community,” Halloran explains.
We are excited to see this student-led initiative develop throughout the year!
