Approximately 100 guests graced Forman School's campus on May 6-8 for Alumni Weekend! Several alumni arrived early on Friday and enjoyed watching the student Dissertation Day presentations for the Rainforest Project. In the evening, attendees gathered for a reception at the Head's House, followed by the "Golden Lions" 50th Reunion and Decade Dinner, which was hosted by Bart Curtis '66 at La Cupola in Litchfield.

Scores of parents gathered at Forman School for a beautiful Spring Parents' Weekend on April 21-23, 2016. Campus was buzzing with excitement and happy faces, and the spring weather was in bloom, providing a perfect setting for a jam-packed weekend of exciting events.

Congratulations are in order for Forman School football captain Brodie Tescher '16, who signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) this week. Tescher is receiving a scholarship to play football at Presentation College in Aberdeen, South Dakota this fall.

Artist, animator, teacher: Zakiyah Scaramuzzino is in her first year at Forman School, but she is already making waves with her exciting Introduction to Flash Animation class. After months of hard work (and play!), the animation instructor presented a student highlight reel at a January assembly, with an overwhelmingly positive response from the audience. Students and faculty alike were dazzled by the intriguing, fun moving pictures that had been created.

Forman winter athletes are being recognized for their outstanding performances this year. First, NEPSAC (New England Preparatory School Athletic Council) named sophomore Dani Oddo '18 to the All New England girls' basketball All-Star Team, and now, Jonathan "JT" Papa '17 and Luke Willson '17 are receiving the same honor for the boys' league.

Forman School's Revisit Day had a great turnout on Wednesday, April 6, even with a fresh coat of spring snow on the ground. The Johnson Art Center was packed with families and accepted students, who began the day with a welcome from Director of Admissions Aline Rossiter.

Litchfield County's Passport to Education featured Forman School's football program in the Spring 2016 issue. As announced in January, the Lions will join three other peer schools in an eight-man football league this fall.

Winter was an exciting season for Forman Athletics! The Alpine Ski Team competed at the highest level ever, and Boys' Varsity Hockey had an historic run as well.

Sophomore and recent Athlete of the Week Dani Oddo '18 was named to the All New England girls' basketball All-Star Team by the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). She represented Forman on the team last Sunday, March 6, at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Massachusetts.

Forman School participated in the Winsted Penguin Plunge at Highland Lake on Saturday, February 27. The dip into the icy cold lake benefitted the Connecticut Special Olympics, and Forman raised over $2,000!

Forman's Winter Athletic Awards took place the evening of Tuesday, February 23. Students and coaches enjoyed a delicious dinner in the formally decorated dining hall.

Over 50 people came out for the annual Forman Alumni Hockey game on Sunday, February 21 at Rumsey Hall School's Lufkin Arena. The event was both fun and competitive, with a number of parents and faculty members cheering on from the stands.

Forman School participated in a robotics competition for the first time ever on Saturday, February 13 along with 30 other teams at the University of New Haven. In the School's first year with a Robotics Program, the Forman Lions took home the Sportsmanship Award from the CTEEA Regional Vex Qualifier. Robotics Coach Wendy Welshans and her team presented the award to Head of School Adam K. Man on Tuesday, February 15.

Seeking redemption from a loss to The Harvey School earlier in the season, the Forman Boys' Varsity Hockey Team came up with a big win Wednesday night at Harvey. Two weeks earlier, Harvey got the better of Forman 6-3, but Wednesday was a different story. Forman came out strong and the offense shined, scoring seven goals en route to a 7-4 win.

Once again, Forman has taken student learning beyond the classroom. A group from Forman School recently had a VIP experience at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. The event, which took place in Park City, Utah, was held January 21-31, 2016. Seniors Alexander Gruneich, Ethan Jadow, Hannah Drill, and Jacob Cloobeck attended for a long weekend on the tail end of the festival with Arts Teacher Sean Kelly.

Kyle Halloran '05 has been in the "Forman family" for his entire life. In addition to being an alumnus, his mother, Director of Counseling Charlene Halloran, has worked at the School for over 30 years. "I was born here, went to school here, I teach here, and I am now raising a family here," he says. "I've seen this School develop over the years and have been surrounded by Forman's educational process. There is nothing else like this School out there, and I feel very fortunate to be a part of this community."

Forman School will officially join a new football league in the fall. The Gunnery, Millbrook School, and Pomfret School will also be part of the league, which will be named next month. Games will include eight players on the field for each team as opposed to the current 11 players in the Hudson Valley Athletic League.

Forman School reflected on diversity this month. In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 18, the Forman community gathered together and watched a short film on the protests in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963. After, the community divided into groups to discuss the impact of the events.

Tammy Diehl is in her 15th year at Forman School, and her passion for teaching has only grown over this time. "I love when students have that 'aha!' moment – when they truly understand what they are learning and then apply it successfully without thinking about," she says. Beyond just an excitement for her field, Diehl has a love for Forman.

It all started with a dream. Jake Alda Coffey '15 wanted to make a short film, and a month after graduating from Forman School, he was funded through Kickstarter and had the means to create it. This micro budget short film titled Table for Two about a fictitious dinner conversation between Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby the night before John F. Kennedy's assassination.

The Forman Ensemble Players performed their fall play, Let's Murder Marsha, to packed audiences on Thursday and Friday, November 12 and 13, in the Johnson Art Center.

History was made at the Forman School fields this weekend. After a hard fought match Saturday against South Kent School, the Boys' Varsity Soccer team has won the Housatonic Valley Athletic League (HVAL) Championship. "I'm in my 38th year here at Forman and we've been runners up numerous times, but this is the first time we have won the top championship game," Athletic Director Scott McCarty '76 said.
