At Forman, Students are encouraged to explore new visual mediums, take risks and push their creativity.
The visual arts program offers classes in Studio, Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Jewelry-Making, Analogue and Digital Photography, as well as Film and Video. Each class has beginning and advanced levels, where students can develop their craft and can create advanced portfolios for college.
The program emphasizes students sharing work with the community. Beyond classroom discussions and critiques, students can present their artistic passions in morning assemblies. Student have had work accepted in the National Scholastic Competition in Hartford, CT, the ASAP Regional Photo Competition, and the Hotchkiss Film Festival. Student artwork is displayed around campus and the academic year cumulates with a spring student art show and senior art show in Risley Gallery.
The Gallery Program invites professional artists to exhibit their work in Risley. Students gain exposure to contemporary art and have an opportunity to interact and take workshops from the artists.
The Faculty are practicing artists and model their passion for the arts for Forman students. At Forman, students experience how art can be a lifelong pursuit and outlet for expression and understanding the world.
