Around the Green

Each year, Head of Forman School Adam K. Man challenges the senior class president to a contest. They stand before each other, and the whole school, each armed with flash cards that have picture of a new student on one side and that student's name on the other. Whoever can name the most students correctly is the winner.
For the eleventh year in a row, headmaster Adam K. Man and his wife Beth invite seniors over to their house for dinner in the first weeks of school as a warm way to start the year off. The gatherings are intimate as they are split by gender as well as by two-three-or-four year seniors. The Mans started the tradition as a way to get to know seniors and to listen to them reflect on their time at Forman. And to get teenagers to talk, it helps to feed them as Mr. Man notes. "Every year, the four-year seniors just naturally slide into a trip down memory lane," says Man. "They'll say 'Remember that time in Lodge' and then the stories just flow."
Most of the Forman School community gathered in the gymnasium at 7:30pm on Saturday, September 8 to begin the traditional color wars games for the 2018-'19 school year. After all new students were assigned to either the Green or White team, the festivities began in earnest.
On the drizzly morning of September 10, students and faculty at Forman School gathered in the Jake Cloobeck '16 Theater of the Visual and Performing Arts Center for the first all-school assembly of the new year. Headmaster Adam K. Man, in his 11th year at Forman, welcomed the community and started off the year with a reminder of Forman's core values and guiding principles: truth, respect, and kindness.
