On Sunday, September 20th, the Forman campus welcomed walkers from across the local community for the 13th Annual Litchfield T.E.A.L.® (Tell Every Amazing Lady) Walk for Ovarian Cancer.
The morning held special meaning for the Forman community as we came together to remember longtime colleague and Forman parent Melissa ‘Missi’ Boyer P’16, P’18, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2025. Missi was an integral part of the Forman community for 28 years, serving as a Cognition and Learning Teacher, Director of Town Funding, and previously, Science Department Chair.
Students played an active role in the event through Forman’s TReK (Truth, Respect, and Kindness) programming. All students participated in the walk, while some also created signs to display across campus as part of community service.
Together, students, families, colleagues, friends, and members of the local community gathered to raise awareness of ovarian cancer, recognize survivors, and remember those we have lost. For the Forman community, the walk provided an opportunity to honor Missi’s memory and reflect on the lasting impact she had on the school and the many people whose lives she touched.
Missi’s legacy at Forman will also continue through the Melissa S. Boyer Winterim Scholarship Fund, established in her honor. The endowed fund will provide scholarship support for students with demonstrated financial need to participate in Winterim, with priority given to seniors.
