Each summer, Forman School alumni return to campus as Summer Program Counselors, eager to give back to the community that supported them. We caught up with our 2025 alumni counselors to hear about their experiences of seeing Forman from a new perspective and where they are today.
Ben Ruddy ’23 was one of several alumni who returned to work with students this summer, excited to reconnect with Forman.
What made you decide to be a Summer Program Counselor?
Thinking back to all of the fun times I had here definitely helped me decide to come back and work here. I missed the old feeling Forman used to give me.
What has been the most rewarding part of this experience?
Seeing the campers start to transform out of their shells and into genuine people was definitely rewarding to see.
What skills have you developed or improved through this experience?
Working more closely with kids and public speaking.
Did you attend the Summer Program as a student? If so, how did that experience impact your role as a counselor?
I did not, but I can tell that if I did come here as one, I would want to attend school here.
Ben attends the College of Charleston, where he is studying Business Administration with a concentration in Real Estate.
