Tyler joined Forman in July 2016 as a Mathematics Teacher after eight years at Oxford Academy in Westbrook, Connecticut. There, he was the Mathematics Department Head, a Mathematics Teacher, and the Student Activities Coordinator. In addition to teaching students with learning differences, Tyler also has experience working with the gifted and talented, as well as ESL students. Additionally, he has served as a basketball coach and on-campus Duty Administrator. Prior to Oxford, he was a Substitute Teacher for two years in Regional School District #12. Tyler enjoys employing a real-world, hands-on approach to learning along with research-driven statistics projects derived from student interests and current events. He lives in Litchfield with his wife and their son.
Arlis became a part of our Forman community in July of 2019 as a Mathematics Teacher. Graduating with a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics and Economics, Arlis has previously worked at West Nottingham Academy, the oldest boarding school in the United States, as a Mathematics Teacher, Dorm Parent and coach. He has also worked at Mercer County Community College, and spent the last four summers working for the Duke University Talent Identification Program, a summer camp for gifted youth. In this program, he worked first as a Teaching Assistant, and then as the Curriculum Designer and Course Instructor for the Cryptography, Codebreaking and the Mathematics of Spying course. He lives on campus as a Dorm Parent in Commons.
